Verified ReviewerFRAUDULENT BILLING PRACTICES CON ARTISTS
This company is a fraud who preys on elderly people who have no idea about technology and starts billing them without their knowledge or consent. They try to make deliveries when people are not home for heating oil they never ordered and had no idea was even coming.
They have been harassing my elderly mother for weeks trying to bill her for an oil delivery and "cancellation fees" even though they don't even serve this area, and she never ordered anything from them. You can't order from this town on their website. I tried it with several addresses, and the entire town comes up as out of their service area. All it takes it asking them for a price- something every other company provides on their websites- and they take your name and email to get the price, and then they sign you up for service you told them you didn't want.
They randomly sent my mother an email that shows a zero balance due and says "no thank you, I'm not ordering at this time"- this email was in her junk mail folder. They hide a "contract" that they themselves type up with her info without the customer knowing it, in the email attachments, where an elderly person who is not tech savvy is unlikely to open it. The email looks like nothing was ordered and it's just spam. But the attachment then has fine print that signs them up for a long-term service contract- the same that the email says no thanks, I don't wan it- that you can only cancel my snail mail or telegram within 3 days.
By the time the unsuspecting victim gets a bill for hundreds of dollars from them, the customer has either ignored the email or deleted it as spam, because it looks like nothing was ordered. They are signing people up without permission from them and hiding it in a fake contract and then using that to bill them for services and product they didn't intend to order. When you complain about it, they tell you, "too bad we have a contract" and they tell you they can cancel it now, but you have to pay them even more!! a cancellation fee!
They are literally defrauding old people.
This company needs to be shut down. They are just no good.

Verified ReviewerNever showed up for delivery
I waited home all day for a delivery, but Slomins never came. That evening Oct.
13th Slomins called and said that they couldnt make the delivery and they were going to come the next day Oct. 14th instead between 6am and 5pm. So after waiting home from 6am to 2pm, I called to see if they had come and i missed them somehow. At that time I was told that I didnt even have an appointment that day.
And now they dont know when they can deliver oil.
And they know my contract will expire next week. Im sure that bc oil has gone up $ so much that they want my contract to expire and then ill have to pay a much higher price!

False representation
Called in June 2022 for my yearly burner cleaning which I paid for as part of my contract. Told there were no appointments until Oct 5 but that fell within my contract.
Breanna, your representative called me and cancelled my 10/5 /2022 appointment and rescheduled it for 11/10/2022. I specifically asked her if the fact it was past my contract date mattered and she assured me it would not. I received a bill for the next year for the new burner protection plan and when I spoke to your representative Mike, he stated your representative, Breanna was incorrect when I specially asked her about the coverage but if I want the burner cleaned, I will have to pay for it.
I not only do not want it cleaned if I have to pay for it, I no longer want your oil delivered . I've been a valued customer for over 20 years but if that's how I'm treated, then I no longer have faith in a company that misrepresents themselves and won't stand by their representatives word.

Verified Reviewer |Violation of Service Contract for heating oil
By being proactive and informing them I would contact the local news agency, they have now provided me with a date that is 2 days before my contract ends, and when I will no longer be in residence. This is 3 months after my initial request. I need the service within 10...
I am a customer of Slomins with a heating contract ending November10th.
Today August 8th, I called to make an appointment for me maintenance and was told I could not get an appointment until late November, after my contract ended.
I spoke with Eric, head of Customer Service. He told me this was his 4th call TODAY. I am a senior citizen, 78 and spend the winter in Florida. I leave the first week in October.
I cannot leave without knowing that my oil burner is in the best of shape.
It seems unfair to me that calling 3 months ahead of time should result in not being able to perform the required maintenance which is provided in my contract. I view this as a breach of the contract.
Eric informed me that it was NOT POSSIBLE
Eric informed me that the wording of the contract makes you not responsible if you cannot provide the service.
Eric informed me that it was just TOO BAD
I am writing in the hope that you can resolve this situation.
I cannot believe that it is your intent to NOT provide this service when requested in a timely manner.
Thank you for your prompt attention. Please give me the curtesy of a reply.

- I recieived a good price on a scheduled deliver heating oil
- Initially refused to give service for maintenance of furnace
- Do not have enough personal to provide maintenance of service
- Unsatisfactory resolution received due to pro-active customer
Preferred solution: I have now been given a date 2 days before the end of my contract. I would like a date no later that October 17th, still two months from the day of this writing. I never recieved a reply from Slomins, I was pro-active.
User's recommendation: schedule a maintenance service a year in advance.

Verified Reviewer |Violation of contract (My opinion)
Three months before my contract ended, I called to schedule the maintenance of my furnace. The only date they could give me was outside of the end of my contract.
They went on about it being a service contract, which includes a maintenance service of the furnace, and said they just could not do it in the time frame I wanted. I go south in the winter and wanted it done within the next two months. They were emphatic that it could not be done.
I wrote to Mr. Salzman and Pissed.
I did not hear from Slomins. A week later, I decided to call again. My comments had been noted and after explaining the same thing to me, I told them that I intended to go to Channel 12. I did this nicely.
He asked me to hold on and returned with a date 2 DAYS before the end of my contract when I would not be home. I have accepted the date, however it is in November and if it is cold they may cancel me. They have told me not to even bother to call for cancelations.
They told me that many others are in the same predicament.
SLOMINS needs to hire more people and do provide what is given in their heating contract. Two months is not unreasonable to get the service provided.
I would love a service sooner, before I head south
- I recieived a good price on a scheduled deliver heating oil
- Refused to provide maintenance in timely manner
- Too large a customer base to deliver quality service
Preferred solution: Cleaning of my furnace by Monday October 17, or sooner
User's recommendation: Schedule your service a year in advance and check on it in 6 months

Oil heating nightmare
I wish I could leave negative stars! I was with slomins oil and Alarm company for 17 years and in that time I guess it was ok, I bought oil and they delivered it.
They were never great on service and cleaning burner to be honest but my real issue started yesterday. I recently had a new burner, oil tanks and hot water system installed. It was not done by slomins but another large oil provider, only reason I did not use slomins was because they did not carry the system I wanted. When I called to get oil I had mentioned that I put in new equipment, they told me they needed to send an inspector before they could deliver again.
Side note, when I told them I had this installed by another company the air changed. Fast forward I had them come to inspect and the inspector said nope Im not delivering here, you have two oil tanks and one vent I said they are connected and its all at code. He saidI DONT know the code great inspector. I tried to tell him that this isnt an issue and we are in contract for you to deliver oil.
No where in my contract does it say you can withhold oil delivery based on your opinion, if there was a code violation I could understand. When I called slomins they wouldnt do a thing, a 17 year customer and they treated me like total crap. ALSO and my favorite part is that when I moved in almost a year ago to this home, they never came to check anything, meanwhile the tank was Leaking, the tank was also to close to electric panel and the connection from fill line to tank was bad. So when I said that they had no response.
I will be reaching out to EPA with photos of them delivering with actual code violations. One other thing was this was my last week on contract, I locked in last year and was paying $2.65 a gallon , wonder if that was part of this also.
Good Job Slomins for loosing a customer. I will continue to leave these reviews.

When i cant pay they r harassing me with letters and calls to pay. Okay.
Understood. then i pay it off early and they r harassing me to drop oil. I tell them i am not ready for a drop and to please stop calling. Was told its an automated system, dont pick up until ready.
I finally pick up and agree to a delivery and NO ONE comes. The lady who i confirmed with had a crying baby in the background and must have tended to the baby instead of confirming my order. So now with no oil i call and the customer service lady is telling me my name was never there to have oil dropped and i should have picked up when they called before. What??
So i said i CONFIRMED and no one came. She said its not in the system.
It will be 250 for a service drop....smh!
By the way this has NOT been my only complaint. No one is perfect but there does not appear to have any repercussions for inadequate service.
- Extended hours for customer service
- Too large a customer base to deliver quality service

Did you file with Attorney General? If not, please do so.
They control your oil usage and determine when to deliver.
I had seen similar situation with mine and is filing through Attorney General. Once I have all the information, I will post it her for you, if you would like to join to bring a class action lawsuit.
